Historique :	Le cardinal Louis de Bourbon est mort en 1557. Louis de Bourbon, né en 1493, fils de François de Bourbon, comte de Vendôme, chargé d'honneurs ecclésiastiques : évêque et duc de Laon, archevêque de Sens, cardinal en 1517, etc, fut le premier abbé commenditaire de Saint-Denis en 1529. Il fut enterré à Laon, mais son coeur fut porté à l'abbaye où il s'était fait élever un monument de type exceptionnel. L'effigie du carinal fut détruite en 1793 mais la colonne et son chapiteau ont été rétablis dans l'abbatiale.
