Historique :	La statue provient de l'église des Jacobins de Paris. Le comte Charles d'Anjou et du Maine, frère de saint Louis, fut couronné roi de Naples et de Sicile à Rome en 1265 et roi de Jérusalem en 1277. Il mourut à Foggia dans la Capitanate des Pouilles en 1285 et fut inhumé dans la cathédrale de Naples (sépulture détruite au 16e siècle, remplacée par un tombeau Renaissance en 1599). Son coeur, rapporté en France, fut placé dans l'église des Jacobins à Paris où un tombeau fut élevé, en 1326 seulement, par les soins de Clémence de Hongrie, son arrière-petite-fille.
