Description :	La face antérieure contient, sous une vousssure, un tympan à trois registres. Sur un soubassement récent de marbre, repose la statue (refaite en 1851) de Dagobert couché sur le flanc. A ses pieds et à sa tête, sont debout, sous des dais, sa deuxième épouse, Nantilde (œuvre du 13e siècle), morte après 642 et leur fils Clovis II (œuvre refaite en 1862). Dans les trois registres du tympan, des bas-reliefs racontent la vision qu'eut un ermite, Jean, au moment de la mort de Dagobert. La face postérieure du monument montre le Christ bénissant, imploré par le roi et la reine.

Historique :	Œuvre exécutée entre 1263 et 1264. Dagobert Ier, roi de France, né entre 602 et 605 et mort en 638 ou 639, est un roi des Francs de la dynastie mérovingienne. Fils de Clotaire II et arrière petit-fils de Clovis, il règne sur l'Austrasie de 622 à 632 et devient roi des Francs de 629 à 639. Il fut le fondateur de l'abbaye de Saint-Denis. Le gisant authentique du roi a pu être remis à sa place en 1958.
